Lynn Stephens is a former Langley City businesswomen and realtor who has lived in the community for more than 30 years. She is the parent of three grown sons and grandparent to three young children. Born and raised in Saskatchewan, Lynn comes from a politically active family, and became involved with the Langley Liberal Riding Association in 1984, serving as president from 1988 to 1990.

In addition to politics and business, Lynn has been very active in her community over the years, serving in a number of roles. Among them, she has been first vice-president of Langley Chamber of Commerce, chair of the chamber's Retail Committee, a member of Langley City Council's downtown revitalization committee, a member of the city's Economic Development and Public Relations Committees, a director of Langley Community Services, and a member of the Langley Kiwanis Hi-Noon Club. In December 2002, Lynn was the recipient of the Commemorative Medal of the Queen's Golden Jubilee.

Lynn was elected to the British Columbia Legislative Assembly in October 1991, re-elected in May 1996 for her second term, and once again in May 2001 for her third term of office. As the Member of the Legislative Assembly for Langley, Lynn served as Opposition Critic for Economic Development, Small Business and Trade, Small Business, Tourism and Culture, Education, and as the Opposition Critic for Women's Equality. Lynn also serves as a member on the Women's Caucus Committee.

In her legislative role as MLA, Lynn has served on the multi-party Legislative Standing Committees for The Constitution, North America Free Trade Agreement, Secondary Wood Remanufacturing, Public Accounts, and the Multilateral Agreement on Investment. She also served on the Social Standing Committee to choose the provincial Child, Youth, and Family Advocate.

On June 5, 2001, the Premier appointed her Minister of State for Women's Equality, a position she held until Jan. 26, 2004. Lynn has also been a member of Treasury Board, and a member of Government Caucus Committee for Communities and Safety.
