BRITISH COLUMBIA LIBERAL PARTY

Blair was elected as MLA for Nelson-Creston in the 2001 provincial general election. Blair currently serves on the Government Caucus Committee for Health as well as the Select Standing Committee for Health. He is also a member of the Kootenay Caucus, the Mining Task Force and stands as Caucus Liaison for Health Planning.

Blair, who has practiced law in Nelson since 1975, purchased the firm in 1983 where he practiced before becoming an MLA. Blair earned a Bachelor of Administration degree from his hometown university, the University of Saskatchewan in Regina, in 1972 and a Bachelor of Law degree in 1974. He immediately moved to Nelson to work as an articled student and commenced general practice in 1975 with the same firm. Blair has also taught business law courses at Selkirk College in Castlegar and is a part owner in a local hotel in Nelson. Blair received the Queen's Counsel designation in 1986 and served as the Kootenay Bar Association president.

Blair's community involvement included: Nelson Rod and Gun Club member; Royal Canadian Legion member; Nelson University Centre director (1990-1999); Whitewater Ski Society volunteer director (1976-1987); David Thompson University Centre Student Society counsel; Nelson Snofest Society founding member and director; and, Nelson Child Care Society director.

Born in 1951 in Saskatoon, Blair moved to Nelson in 1974 where he has lived ever since. Blair and Judi, who married in 1983, have two children. Blair enjoys fishing, skiing, gardening and woodworking.
