Corky Evans was elected as the MLA for Nelson Creston in 1991, and was re-elected in 1996. He was once again elected to represent his constituents on May 17, 2005.
Corky has served his community in a number of capacities, including as an elected representative to the Central Kootenay Regional District where he served three successive terms as a director and a member of the hospital board.
Corky has ten years experience as an MLA, during which time he served in many cabinet portfolios, including Minister of Agriculture, Food and Fisheries.
Corky has been responsible for many local and provincial initiatives, including the creation of the Columbia Basin Trust, and the BC Sharing charitable food program that facilitated the purchase of BC agricultural products for use by poor people.
Most recently Corky worked as Executive Director of a Nakusp Community Services Society.
Corky has lived in Winlaw for over thirty years.
