Prayers by Mr. Serwa.

On the motion of Mr. Krog, Bill (No. M 201) intituled An Act to Enhance Freedom of Public Expression was introduced, read a first time, and Ordered to be placed on the Orders of the Day for second reading at the next sitting after today.

On the motion of Mr. Lortie, Bill (No. M 202) intituled An Act to Establish the Boundary Bay Wildlife Management Area was introduced, read a first time, and Ordered to be placed on the Orders of the Day for second reading at the next sitting after today.

On the motion of Mr. Weisgerber, Bill (No. M 203) intituled Initiative Act was introduced, read a first time, and Ordered to be placed on the Orders of the Day for second reading at the next sitting after today.

On the motion of Mr. Weisgerber, Bill (No. M 204) intituled Recall Act was introduced, read a first time, and Ordered to be placed on the Orders of the Day for second reading at the next sitting after today.

On the motion of Mr. Weisgerber, Bill (No. M 205) intituled Free Votes Enabling Act was introduced, read a first time, and Ordered to be placed on the Orders of the Day for second reading at the next sitting after today.

On the motion of Mr. Mitchell, Bill (No. M 206) intituled An Act to Elect the Speaker by Closed Ballot was introduced, read a first time, and Ordered to be placed on the Orders of the Day for second reading at the next sitting after today.

The Hon. A. Petter (Minister of Aboriginal Affairs) made a ministerial statement relating to a Memorandum of Agreement with the Union of B.C. Municipalities in connection with land claim negotiations with the First Nations of British Columbia. Mr. Anderson made a statement.

Mr. Weisgerber made a statement.

Order called for "Oral Questions by Members."

The House proceeded to "Orders of the Day."

Pursuant to Order, the House resumed the adjourned debate on the Address in Reply to the Speech of His Honour the Lieutenant Governor at the opening of the Session.

The debate continued.

Mr. Weisgerber advised the House of the death of Mr. Ernest LeCours, a former Member of the Legislative Assembly, on March 10, 1993.

On the motion of the Hon. M. Sihota, the debate was adjourned to the next sitting of the House.

And then the House adjourned at 5.14 p.m.

34  Mr. Weisgerber to ask the Hon. the Minister of Finance the following question:
Which concessionary loans made to businesses were deemed to be doubtful accounts as of the publication of the 1991-92 Public Accounts -- and which of those, if any, have been brought into good standing or are now no longer considered by the government to be doubtful accounts for the purposes of its financial statements?
