The Clerk of the House informed the House of the unavoidable absence of the Speaker, whereupon Mr. Barnes, Deputy Speaker, took the Chair, pursuant to Standing Order 12.

Prayers by Ms. MacPhail.

The Hon. J. Smallwood (Minister of Social Services) made a ministerial statement regarding initiatives to identify and reduce administrative errors in the Ministry of Social Services and, by leave, tabled the following documents:

The Project to Monitor Administrative Error and Fraud, Draft Report and Information Package, Income Assistance Division, Ministry of Social Services, November 1992.

The Annual Report of the Auditor General, June 1992.

Mr. Anderson made a statement.

Mr. Neufeld made a statement.

Order called for "Oral Questions by Members."

Mr. Dalton raised a point of order, namely, that Standing Order 47a had not been complied with during Oral Question Period.

The Deputy Speaker made a statement.

The House proceeded to "Orders of the Day."

Order for Committee of Supply called.

Pursuant to Sessional Order, order called for Section A of Committee of Supply (estimates of the Ministry of Tourism and Ministry Responsible for Culture).

56. Resolved, That a sum not exceeding $330,000 be granted to Her Majesty to defray the expenses of Ministry of Tourism and Ministry Responsible for Culture, Minister's Office, to 31st March 1994.

57. Resolved, That a sum not exceeding $56,026,000 be granted to Her Majesty to defray the expenses of Ministry of Tourism and Ministry Responsible for Culture, Ministry Operations, to 31st March 1994.


Section A of Committee of Supply reported the Resolutions.

By agreement, summary debate of estimates passed in Section A (Ministry of Tourism and Ministry Responsible for Culture) to be considered tomorrow.
