Mr. Gingell made a statement regarding the death of Mr. Alexander Douglas Turnbull, a former Member of the Legislative Assembly, on June 23, 1993.

The Hon. B. Barlee made a statement.

The Hon. M. Sihota (Minister of Labour and Consumer Services and Minister Responsible for Constitutional Affairs) presented to the Speaker a Message from His Honour the Lieutenant Governor, which read as follows:

The Lieutenant Governor transmits herewith Bill (No. 65) intituled Employment Standards Amendment Act, 1993 and recommends the same to the Legislative Assembly.

Order called for "Oral Questions by Members."

The Hon. M. F. Harcourt (Premier) tabled the Annual Report of the British Columbia Trade Development Corporation, 1992/1993.

By leave, the Hon. C. Gabelmann (Attorney General) tabled the Annual Report of the Law Reform Commission of British Columbia, 1992/93.

The Hon. B. Barlee (Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food) tabled the Financial Statements of the Okanagan Valley Tree Fruit Authority as at March 31, 1993.

Ms. Brewin presented the First Report of the Select Standing Committee on Justice, Constitutional Affairs and Intergovernmental Relations.

Resolved, That the Report be taken as read and received.

By leave of the House, Ms. Brewin moved that the Rules be suspended and the Report be adopted.

Motion agreed to.

Mr. Lortie presented a petition relating to the preservation of Burns Bog.

Mr. Mitchell presented a petition relating to forestry land issues, including the Northern Spotted Owl.

The Hon. T. Perry (Minister of Advanced Education, Training and Technology) made a ministerial statement regarding the recent purchase of B.C. Research Corporation by the Terracy consortium.

Mr. Dalton made a statement.

Mr. Weisgerber made a statement.

The House proceeded to "Orders of the Day."

Pursuant to Sessional Order, order called for Section A of Committee of Supply (estimates of the Ministry of Women's Equality).

Pursuant to Sessional Order, order called for Section B of Committee of Supply (estimates of the Office of the Premier and Executive Council Operations).

60. Resolved, That a sum not exceeding $356,400 be granted to Her Majesty to defray the expenses of Ministry of Women's Equality, Minister's Office, to 31st March 1994.

61. Resolved, That a sum not exceeding $33,614,600 be granted to Her Majesty to defray the expenses of Ministry of Women's Equality, Ministry Operations, to 31st March 1994.
