BUDGET PRESENTATION ACT, 1995

Preamble

WHEREAS the revenue and expenditure projections of the budget for the Province of British Columbia affect the plans and operations of many organizations other than government ministries, such as crown corporations, municipal governments, school districts, universities, nongovernmental organizations as well as corporations in the private sector and all provincial taxpayers; all of whom require greater certainty in preparing their own annual budgets, projections of which may be based on information provided in the provincial budget; therefore,

HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of British Columbia, enacts as follows:

Enactment

1 The Government shall cause to be prepared and publicly released no later than the first Monday in December of each year, a white paper setting forth the Government's financial projections for the provincial economy, stating the financial assumptions, trends and requirements of the various government ministries and crown corporations which it will utilize in the preparation of its budget for the following fiscal year.

2 No later than the third Monday of March in each year, the Minister of Finance and Corporate Relations, or other such Minister as designated by the Lieutenant-Governor in Council, shall present to the Legislative Assembly for its consideration, the provincial budget for all government ministries and crown corporations, for the fiscal year commencing April 1.
