Prayers by Mr. Hartley.

Mr. Thorpe rose on a matter of privilege relating to statements made in the House on June 4, 1997, by the Minister of Small Business, Tourism and Culture.

The Hon. J. Pullinger (Minister of Small Business, Tourism and Culture) made representations.

The Deputy Speaker stated that she would take the matter under advisement.

The House proceeded to "Orders of the Day."

Order for Committee of Supply called.

Pursuant to Sessional Order, order called for Section A of Committee of Supply (estimates of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food).

Bill (No. 9) intituled Tourism British Columbia Act was again committed, reported complete without amendment, read a third time and passed.

On the motion for second reading of Bill (No. 22) intituled Miscellaneous Statutes Amendment Act, 1997, a debate arose.

Bill (No. 22) read a second time and Ordered to be placed on the Orders of the Day for committal at the next sitting after today.

Report to be considered at the next sitting.

Committee to sit again at the next sitting.

And then the House adjourned at 11.53 a.m.

The Hon. U. Dosanjh (Attorney General and Minister Responsible for Multiculturalism, Human Rights and Immigration) presented to the Speaker a Message from His Honour the Lieutenant Governor, which read as follows:

On the motion for second reading of Bill (No. 23) intituled Children's Commission Act, a debate arose.

By leave, the Hon. D. Lovick (Speaker) tabled a report entitled Auditor General 1996/97: Report 9 -- Performance Audits -- BC Transit: Managing Operator Productivity -- BC Transit: Its Success as a Market-focused Organization.

The debate continued.

The Hon. J. Pullinger (Minister of Small Business, Tourism and Culture) made a personal statement.

The Deputy Speaker stated that in keeping with parliamentary practice and traditions, the Hon. Minister's apology ends the matter.

Pursuant to Sessional Order, order called for Section A of Committee of Supply (estimates of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food).

Bill (No. 23) intituled Children's Commission Act was again committed, reported complete with amendment and, by leave, read a third time and passed.

On the motion for second reading of Bill (No. 27) intituled Offence Amendment Act (No. 2), 1997, a debate arose.

Bill (No. 27) read a second time and Ordered to be placed on the Orders of the Day for committal at the next sitting after today.
