On the motion that the House recess until 6.35 p.m. a debate arose.

The debate continued.

The Hon. D. Miller, Government House Leader, moved that the House do now adjourn.

The Speaker stated that the motion of the Government House Leader superseded the motion that the House recess.

And then the House adjourned at 10.03 p.m.

NOTICE OF MOTIONS

Monday, June 23

63   The Hon. J. MacPhail to move--

That this House authorize the Select Standing Committee on Parliamentary Reform, Ethical Conduct, Standing Orders and Private Bills to select and unanimously recommend to the Legislative Assembly the appointment of a Commissioner, Conflict of Interest and,
That after the Committee has unanimously recommended the appointment of a Commissioner, Conflict of Interest and the Commissioner, Conflict of Interest is appointed by the Lieutenant Governor- in-Council pursuant to the Members' Conflict of Interest Act, RSBC c. 287 s. 14 (2), the Committee is authorized to examine, inquire into and make recommendations on the matter of the Members' Conflict of Interest Act, RSBC c. 287.
In addition to the powers previously conferred upon the said Committee by the House, the Committee be empowered:
(a) to appoint of their number, one or more subcommittees and to refer to such subcommittees any of the matters referred to the Committee (but to deal with matters in the order in which the Committee has been authorized to deal with them);
(b) to sit during a period in which the House is adjourned, during the recess after prorogation until the next following Session and during any sitting of the House;
(c) to adjourn from place to place as may be convenient; and
(d) to retain such personnel as required to assist the Committee;
and shall report to the House as soon as possible, or following any adjournment, or at the next following Session, as the case may be; to deposit the original of its reports with the Clerk of the Legislative Assembly during a period of adjournment and upon resumption of the sittings of the House, the Chair shall present all reports to the Legislative Assembly.
