MR. NEBBELING

BILL M 207 -- 2000

INTERPRETATION AMENDMENT ACT

HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of British Columbia, enacts as follows:

1  The Interpretation Act, R.S.B.C. 1996, c. 238, is amended by deleting section 14 (2).

Explanatory Notes

In view of the fact that one of the purposes of the Local Government Statutes Amendment Act, 1998 is "to provide local governments with the powers, duties and functions necessary for fulfilling their purposes", this Bill amends the Interpretation Act removing an exception that exempts the provincial government and Crown Corporations from being bound by enactments with respect to the regulation of land and/or improvements as defined in the Assessment Act, within municipal boundaries.
