Prayers by Mr. Robertson.

The Hon. W. Hartley (Speaker) tabled the following documents:

Auditor General 1999/2000: Report 11 -- Towards a More Accountable Government: Putting Ideas Into Practice; and

Office of the Child, Youth & Family Advocate Annual Report, 1999.

The House proceeded to "Orders of the Day."

Pursuant to Order, the House resumed the adjourned debate on the motion "That the Speaker do now leave the Chair" for the House to go into Committee of Supply.

The debate continued.


6 Mr. de Jong moved, seconded by Mr. Hansen--: Be it resolved that the motion "That the Speaker do now leave the Chair" for the House to go into Committee of Supply, be amended by adding the following: "But the house regrets that the budget has not been balanced for nine consecutive years; the resulting debt has the fastest growing debt service costs of any province in Canada; the transfer of half billion dollar BC Ferry debt to the public pocket has now added an enormous burden to the hard-working people of this province; and, this government has not been accountable to the public and does not understand that a long term strategy is required in order to put B.C. back on the economic track it was on nine years ago."

The debate on the amendment continued.

On the motion of Ms. Walsh, the debate on the amendment was adjourned to the next sitting of the House.

And then the House adjourned at 11.53 a.m.

The Hon. C. McGregor (Minister of Municipal Affairs) tabled the following documents:

BC Assessment Report on the Creation of the 1999 Assessment Roll and Financial Statements for the year ended December 31, 1998; and

Ministry of Municipal Affairs Annual Report, 1998/99.

The House proceeded to "Orders of the Day."

Pursuant to Order, the House resumed the adjourned debate on the amendment to the motion "That the Speaker do now leave the Chair" for the House to go into Committee of Supply.

The debate on the amendment continued.

The amendment was negatived, on division.

The debate was resumed on the main motion.

On the motion of the Hon. P. Ramsey, the debate was adjourned to the next sitting of the House.

And then the House adjourned at 5.31 p.m.
