PROPOSED AMENDMENTS ON NOTICE

26  The Hon. M. Coell to move, in Committee of the Whole on Bill (No. 26) intituled Employment and Assistance Act to amend as follows:

SECTION 8, by deleting the proposed section 8 (1) and substituting the following:

(1) For a family unit to be eligible for income assistance, at least one applicant in the family unit must have

(a) been employed for remuneration for at least the prescribed number of hours in each of two consecutive years,

(b) earned remuneration for employment in at least the prescribed amount in each of two consecutive years, or

(c) been employed for remuneration for a portion of two consecutive years and for the balance of those years either

(i) served a waiting period in respect of, or received benefits under, a claim under the Employment Insurance Act (Canada), or

(ii) received income under a public or private income replacement program or plan.

SECTION 13, in the proposed section 13 (1) by deleting "terms" and substituting "conditions".

SECTION 17, in the proposed subsection (1) (e) by deleting "terms and".

SECTION 23, in the proposed subsection (1) (a) (iii) by deleting "section 19 (4)" and substituting "section 19 (5)".

27   The Hon. M. Coell to move, in Committee of the Whole on Bill (No. 27) intituled Employment and Assistance for Persons with Disabilities Act to amend as follows:

SECTION 12, in the proposed section 12 (1) by deleting "terms" and substituting "conditions".

SECTION 16, in the proposed subsection (1) (e) by deleting "terms" and substituting "conditions".

SECTION 32, in the proposed subsection (1) (b) by deleting "income assistance or" and substituting "income assistance, hardship assistance or".

SECTION 45, in the proposed section 19 of the Home Owner Grant Act by deleting "section 46" and substituting "section 45".

SECTION 47, in the proposed section 19 of the Land Tax Deferment Act by deleting "section 48" and substituting "section 47".

27   Ms. Kwan to move, in Committee of the Whole on Bill (No. 27) intituled Employment and Assistance for Persons with Disabilities Act to amend as follows:

SECTION 14 (2), is amended by adding the text highlighted by underline and deleting the text highlighted by strikethrough:

(2) A family unit that includes a person who is convicted of an offence under this Act or the Employment and Assistance Act is subject to the consequence described in subsection (5) for a family unit that matches the person's family unit, beginning with the first calendar month following the date of conviction,

(a) after a first conviction, for a period of 12 3 consecutive months,

(b) after a second conviction, and for each additional conviction, for a period of 24 6 consecutive months , and

(c) after a third conviction, for the lifetime of the person.

48   The Hon. G. Bruce to move, in Committee of the Whole on Bill (No. 48) intituled Employment Standards Amendment Act, 2002 to amend as follows:

SECTION 2, by deleting the proposed section 3 (2) and (3) and substituting the following:

(2) If a collective agreement contains any provision respecting a matter set out in Column 1 of the following table, the Part or provision of this Act specified opposite that matter in Column 2 does not apply in respect of employees covered by the collective agreement:
