Ms. Karagianis presented a petition regarding funding for Mary Manning Centre and Sexual Abuse Intervention Programs in BC.

The Hon. J. Les (Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General) tabled the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia Annual Report, 2006.

The House proceeded to "Orders of the Day."

Pursuant to Sessional Order, order called for Section A of Committee of Supply.

Bill (No. 30) intituled Finance Statutes (Innovative Clean Energy Fund) Amendment Act, 2007 was committed, reported complete without amendment, read a third time and passed.

Unless previously completed at the times and dates mentioned, the Speaker and the Chair of Committee of the Whole will forthwith put all necessary questions for the disposal of the various stages of the Bills indicated, without amendment or debate. Any divisions called on the second or third reading of the Bills may be taken in accordance with Standing Order 16 and all other divisions, including amendments in the House and divisions in the Committee of the Whole will be subject to the provisions of Practice Recommendation No. 1. Mr. Dix to introduce a Bill intituled The Colorectal Cancer Prevention Act, 2007.


NOTICE OF MOTIONS

Monday, October 1

65  Mr. Dix to move--
Be it resolved that this House endorse the creation of a comprehensive Colorectal Cancer Screening Program across BC with the following elements:
1. Access to Biennial Fecal Occult Blood Test (FOBT) exams for all BC men and women between the ages of 50 and 74;
2. FOBT test kits available in doctor's offices, walk-in clinics, community health centres and pharmacies;
3. A central lab managed by the BC Cancer Agency to ensure quality standards and streamlined results;
4. Distribution of kits by mail to BC residents in selected health regions to assess the impact of home receipt of FOBT test kits on participation rates;
5. Establishment of a registry to send reminders about screening and ensure information and access to the FOBT;
6. Reminder notices to all BC residents to take the test;
7. Investment in technology and resources to expand access to colonoscopy; and
8. Creation of a Colorectal Cancer Awareness and Screening Fund with an advisory board of experts and colon cancer survivors to assess the success of the program and other screening methods and support awareness and healthy lifestyles.
