The debate continued.

On the motion of Ms. Conroy the debate was adjourned to the next sitting of the House.

The Hon. N. Yamamoto (Minister of Advanced Education) made a ministerial statement marking the one-year anniversary of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

Ms. Corrigan made a statement.

The House proceeded to “Orders of the Day.”

Order called for Committee of Supply.

Pursuant to Sessional Order, order called for Section A of Committee of Supply.

The House resumed the adjourned debate on the motion for second reading of Bill (No. 22) intituled Education Improvement Act.

The debate continued.

Mr. Horgan moved the following amendment —

That the motion for second reading of Bill (No. 22) intituled Education Improvement Act be amended by deleting all the words following the word “that” and substituting therefore the following: “it is not in the best interests of the education system in British Columbia for the government to legislate teachers back to work when an independent mediator could be appointed by the government and the Labour Relations Board to resolve the collective bargaining dispute without legislation.”

The debate on the amendment continued.

On the motion of Ms. Karagianis, the debate on the amendment was adjourned to the next sitting of the House.
