WRITTEN QUESTIONS ON NOTICE

1  Mr. Simons to ask the Hon. Minister of Environment the following questions:—

1. Has the B.C. Government explored the complex human, environmental, and economic concerns around the import, export and domestic production of genetically engineered (GE) fruit trees and their products?

2. Has the B.C. Government produced a report on the complex human, environmental, and economic concerns around the import, export and domestic production of genetically engineered (GE) fruit trees and their products?

2  Mr. Simons to ask the Hon. Premier the following question: —

In light of British Columbia’s significant increase in coal export capacity since 2011, and in light of public concerns respecting the Fraser Surrey Docks–Texada Island coal transshipment proposal, will the Premier initiate a public discussion on our Province’s role in combatting global climate change?

3  Mr. Simons to ask the Hon. Minister of Health the following question: —

Will the Provincial Minister of Health ensure that appropriate authorities undertake a comprehensive health impact assessment of the proposed Fraser Surrey Docks–Texada Island coal transshipment proposal?

4  Mr. Simons to ask the Hon. Premier the following question: —

Will the Premier ensure that appropriate authorities undertake a navigational risk assessment, an environmental management plan, a spill response plan, an air quality management plan, a health impact assessment, and public consultations on the proposed plan to ship U.S. thermal coal from Surrey to Texada Island?

5  Mr. Simons to ask the Hon. Minister of Health the following question: —

Will the Provincial government urge the Federal Minister of Health to exclude homophobic language in its organ-donor program policies to make it clear that behaviour, and not identity, should underlie screening processes used in Canadian blood, bone marrow, and organ transplant programs?

6  Mr. Donaldson to ask the Hon. Premier the following questions: —

1. The National Energy Board has approved export licenses for eight proposed Liquid Natural Gas facilities on the northwest coast of B.C. for a cumulative total of 119.1 million tonnes per annum (MTA). How many of these facilities proceeding to production does the B.C. Government require to meet its stated goal of a $100 billion BC Prosperity Fund and 75,000 full time jobs?

2. What are the number of pipelines that will be required to supply these LNG plants on the northwest coast required to meet the B.C. Government’s stated goals?

3. From which fields will the natural gas be produced to supply the proposed LNG facilities?

4. How many wells need to be drilled to recover the amount of natural gas to supply these LNG facilities and how many well sites will need to be developed?

5. How many kilometres of pipeline will be needed to connect these well sites with natural gas production facilities?

6. How many compressor stations will need to be constructed to move the gas to production facilities?

7. What is the amount of water that will be used in the hydraulic fracturing process for these new wells? Where will the water be sourced?

8. How is the B.C. Government assessing the overall environmental impact of the development required at the natural gas production end associated with the proposed LNG plants planned for the northwest B.C. coast?

9. How many full time jobs will be required for the operations of the natural gas production needed to supply the proposed LNG facilities? How many transient workers will be needed to fill these full time jobs?

10. What are the impacts on local services that will result from the increase in workers required for the expansion of natural gas production that will be required for the B.C. Government to meet its stated goals?
