Joyce Murray was first elected in 2001 to represent the riding of New Westminster and appointed Minister of Water, Land and Air Protection. She served in this capacity until January 26, 2004 when she was appointed Minister of Management Services. As Minister of Management Services she is responsible for the BC Public Service Agency (BC PSA) and the British Columbia Buildings Corporation (BCBC). In addition to these responsibilities, she sits on the Government Caucus Committee on Cross Government Initiatives.

Before her election to the Legislative Assembly, Ms. Murray was a partner and chair of Brinkman & Assoc. Reforestation Limited, a silviculture company based in New Westminster that offers a range of forest management and restoration services. As a reforestation contractor, Ms. Murray has worked throughout British Columbia and Canada, and in Central America.

Ms. Murray earned her master's of business administration from Simon Fraser University and received the faculty of business Dean's Convocation Medal as top MBA graduate.

Joyce Murray and Dirk Brinkman have three children and live in New Westminster.
