Jennifer Rice was elected as the MLA for North Coast on May 14, 2013.

Jennifer serves as the Opposition Spokesperson for Rural and Northern Health and as Deputy Spokesperson for Children and Family Development.

A former City Councillor for the Municipality of Prince Rupert, Jennifer sat on her local Ferries Advisory Committee and on the North West Regional Hospital District board.

Jennifer has played an important role in creating healthy, inclusive and sustainable communities. During her time working with the T. Buck Suzuki Environmental Foundation, she worked tirelessly to protect B.C.’s interests by opposing the Enbridge Northern Gateway pipeline proposal.

Through her work with environmental non-profits and northern community groups, Jennifer has built strong relationships with commercial and sports fishers, tourism operators and First Nations who all depend on a healthy marine environment for long-term viability.

Jennifer was born and raised in Ottawa where she worked with seniors in long-term care facilities and in the watersports industry. She is a PADI open Water SCUBA instructor and NCCP Level 1 kayaking instructor. She moved to B.C. ten years ago and currently resides in Prince Rupert.
