Joan Isaacs was elected MLA for Coquitlam-Burke Mountain in 2017 and currently is the Official Opposition Critic for Children and Family Development . She held the portfolio of Official Opposition Co-Critic for Health, with a focus on Seniors, before being appointed Assistant Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly. An entrepreneur, wife, and mom of two adult sons, Joan has called Coquitlam home for the past 34 years.
Professionally, Joan has three decades of experience in the financial services industry, establishing a successful investment firm and founding a consulting company to help non-profit and for-profit organizations with business development and charitable giving.
Joan has always been community minded and is passionate about youth and families, housing and homelessness, and mental health. Her community involvement has included the Tri-Cities Homelessness Task Force, New View Society, Tri-Cities Joint Family Court and Youth Justice Committee, and CERA – Communities Embracing Restorative Justice.
