Steve Thomson was re-elected as MLA for Kelowna-Mission in 2017. He served as Speaker in June 2017, during the First Session of the 41st Parliament.

Steve currenlty sits on the Select Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and the Special Committee to Review the Personal Information Protection Act.

Previously he served as Minister of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations, Minister of Natural Resource Operations, Minister of Energy, and Minister of Agriculture and Lands. He has also served as chair to the Environment and Land Use Committee and as a member of Treasury Board.

Steve is the former executive director of the BC Agriculture Council and developed his career working on behalf of British Columbian farmers and ranchers. He has served as general manager of the BC Fruit Growers Association and the BC Milk Producers Association, as well as director of the Kelowna Museum, the Okanagan Innovation Fund, and the BC BioEnergy Network.

He has a great love of sports and had a long career in rugby, which included the opportunity to play for the Canadian National Rugby Team. His current interests include gardening, and being an ardent rugby fan.

Steve is a husband, father and grandfather. He is married to Brenda and together they have three children and five grandchildren.
