Employees of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia (Assembly) provide professional non-partisan services to support the democratic institution of Parliament and its members through procedural advice, administrative support and information services. The Assembly is an autonomous employer, separate from the administrative framework of B.C. government ministries and agencies.
Hansard Services is seeking an organized, detailed and flexible individual for the auxiliary part-time position of Research Assistant.
Reporting to the Research Team Leader, the Research Assistant is responsible for providing immediate research support to Hansard editors during the live production of House and legislative committee transcripts, maintains internal glossaries, researching resources and other documentation, assembling draft transcripts (Blues) for on-line publication, and responding to transcript-related queries from Hansard Services clients.

Applicants must have university degree or recent completion of at least two years of work towards a university degree from a recognized academic program, preferably with emphasis in history, English, journalism, law or political science, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Other qualifications include working experience in conducting Internet research, editing documents and publishing documents on line, demonstrated competence in Microsoft Office, especially Word, and excellent working knowledge of English grammar and syntax.
