Employees of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia (Assembly) provide professional non-partisan services to support the democratic institution of Parliament and its members through procedural advice, administrative support and information services. The Assembly is an autonomous employer, separate from the administrative framework of B.C. government ministries and agencies.
Hansard Services is seeking an operator for its microphone switching consoles in House and Committee rooms. This is an as-and-when-needed auxiliary position.
Reporting to the Audio Operations Supervisor, the Console Operator is responsible for the operation of microphones and timing of debates during sittings of the Legislative Assembly and parliamentary committees. In addition, console operators may be required to travel in support of parliamentary committees when they hold meetings outside of Victoria. Console operators further provide operational support to Hansard's Broadcasting and Reporting Services units, including setting up audio equipment for special events and preparing annotations used in the transcription process.

Applicants must have obtained their Grade 12 or equivalent, and have experience in a live operational or broadcast environment. Training in broadcasting and/or recording technology from a recognized technical institution would be considered an asset.
