Position Summary

Employees of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia (Assembly) provide professional non-partisan services to support the democratic institution of Parliament and its members through procedural advice, administrative support and information services. The Assembly is an autonomous employer, separate from the administrative framework of B.C. government ministries and agencies.

The Parliamentary Education Office is seeking ten passionate, motivated, and organized individuals for the auxiliary as-and-when required position of Tour Guide.

Reporting to the Parliamentary Tour Officer, the Tour Guide is responsible for delivering 45 to 60 minute tours in English and one additional language several times a day. Applicants must be able to converse clearly in both languages and adapt their tours to meet the needs of our many different visitors (such as school and ELL groups). In addition to delivering tours, Tour Guides are required to spend a significant amount of time outside welcoming visitors to the Parliament Buildings.

Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited post-secondary institution during the fall and/or spring semesters of this school year. Other qualifications include experience in public speaking before large audiences and/or school groups.
