Employees of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia (Assembly) provide professional non-partisan services to support the democratic institution of Parliament and its members through procedural advice, administrative support and information services. The Assembly is an autonomous employer, separate from the administrative framework of B.C. government ministries and agencies.
The Sergeant-at-Arms department is seeking a professional, diligent and customer-oriented individual for the regular full-time position of Screening Officer.
Reporting to the Sergeant (Day Shift), the Screening Officer is responsible for overseeing the security screening process for all members of the public who enter the Parliament Building. The Screening Officer is often the first point of contact for individuals visiting the Legislative Assembly and must therefore be courteous, professional in sometimes stressful situations, and consistent in security procedures. Screening Officers are provided training to operate advanced security imaging hardware in order to detect potentially dangerous items and prevent their entry into the Parliament Building.

Applicants must have completed Grade 12, have a minimum of one year working in a position where customer service was a focus, and have experience communicating effectively and interacting in a tactful, professional, and courteous manner with various office staff and the public.
