VICTORIA –The all-party Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services has launched its public consultations on the next provincial budget. The consultations are based on the
Budget 2016 Consultation Paper released by the Minister of Finance.
British Columbians are again invited to participate this year by presenting at a community public hearing in person, via conference call or by videoconference; making a written submission; sending an audio or video file; or completing an online survey. This year’s consultations have been adapted to accommodate the fall sitting of the Legislative Assembly, which begins September 28, 2015.
“The consultation process provides an important opportunity for British Columbians to provide feedback that can help shape the budget-making process,” said committee chair Wm. Scott Hamilton. “The committee will issue a report to the Legislative Assembly in November containing recommendations for Budget 2016, based on the submissions collected through the consultation process,” added deputy chair Carole James.
The deadline for public input is

The public consultations on the provincial budget are held annually in accordance with the
Budget Transparency and Accountability Act. The committee must release a report on the results of its consultations by November 15, 2015.
