VICTORIA – The Special Committee on Local Elections Expense Limits is examining principles related to local elections expense limits for elector organizations and third party advertisers. To support its work, the committee is inviting stakeholders and the public to make a written submission on principles for the relationship between elector organizations and their endorsed candidates with respect to expense limits; and principles for establishing expense limits for third party advertisers. The deadline for receiving written submissions is Nov. 21, 2014.
“We want to hear from British Columbians about their views on the principles for local elections expense limits for electoral organizations and third party advertisers,” said committee chair Jackie Tegart.
“These submissions will make an important contribution to the committee’s development of recommendations on principles for expense limits,” said deputy chair Selina Robinson.

In 2015, the committee will begin work on the second phase of its mandate related to expense limit amounts for local elections candidates and for third party advertisers.
The Special Committee on Local Elections Expense Limits is an all-party committee of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia. The committee’s members are:
