Legislative Assembly Issues Accountability Report 2015-16

​VICTORIA – Honourable Linda Reid, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, today issued the Legislative Assembly's annual Accountability Report 2015‐16: A Report to British Columbians.

​"This report summarizes our continuing actions to strengthen the Legislative Assembly's financial management, and make the Assembly more open and accountable to British Columbians" said Madame Speaker.

The report also includes the Assembly's independently audited financial statements, and detailed information on the Assembly's financial administration. For the third year in a row, BC's Office of the Auditor General has confirmed that the financial statements are reliable and fair.

​"Since I became Speaker in 2013, we have made enormous progress in our financial administration and accountability" added Madame Speaker. "I commend the Members of the Legislative Assembly Management Committee for their determination and actions in strengthening the Assembly's management and accountability for the use of taxpayers funds."

​​In the year ahead, the Committee will further strengthen financial and administrative controls, to ensure that the Legislative Assembly is well prepared to deliver cost‐effective activities and services to support the Assembly and its Members after the May 2017 provincial general election.
