A variety of resources are available for educators to engage learners on the Legislative Assembly and its functions, including new curriculum and archived lesson plans and activity sheets. Brochures that outline various topics related to the work of the Legislative Assembly and its organization are also available, such as "How a Bill Becomes a Law" and "Welcome to the House". Many of the documents are available in French and other languages.
New Resources
We have put together a list of teacher resources for educators interested in integrating civics and poetry within their classroom or encouraging artistic and political expression among their students. This resource list is comprised of materials for students ranging from Kindergarten to Grade 12.
The new Calendar Conundrum activity provides an opportunity for students to explore a "day in the life" of an MLA. It allows students to use collaboration and inquiry to increase understanding and develop vocabulary. This activity, including preparation, can be completed in 2-4 lessons. Teachers may arrange the activities to best suit the needs of their students. Resources for both elementary and secondary students are available.
A French language version of this resource can be found here: Dilemmes à l'agenda (primaire)/(secondaire).
The Library Statues activity provides students with the opportunity to learn about the figures that are featured on the exterior of the Parliament Buildings and to think about who is and is not represented by these statues.
Take a virtual walk through the halls of the Parliament Buildings with the virtual tour. Younger learners will also enjoy searching for animals that are hidden in each room with the online scavenger hunt.
