An all-party committee of the Legislative Assembly is undertaking a comprehensive review of the Personal Information Protection Act (RSBC 2003, c. 63). The legislation governs the collection, use and disclosure of personal information by private sector organizations, and applies to over 300,000 businesses, charities, associations, trade unions, and trusts.
HAVE YOUR SAY ON BC'S PRIVATE SECTOR PRIVACY LEGISLATION
The Committee is seeking input from British Columbians and organizations on the effectiveness of the current legislation. Is the Act working well? Are there areas that need improvement or changes? You can participate by either making a written submission or by presenting at one of two public hearings scheduled for September 8 and 9, 2014 in Vancouver. The deadline for written submissions is Friday, September 19, 2014.
