The Select Standing Committee on Children and Youth is one of ten permanent all-party committees of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia. The Committee works to foster greater awareness and understanding among legislators and the public of the B.C. child and youth-serving system. The Committee also provides a public forum for discussion of reports by the Representative for Children and Youth.
The Committee is currently undertaking a special project on children and youth with neuro-diverse (e.g.: ASD, FASD, Developmental Delay) special needs, with a focus on assessment and eligibility processes. British Columbians are invited to participate in the project by speaking with the Committee at a public hearing or by making a written, audio or video submission.
A limited number of times are available to speak with the Committee at public hearing (in-person or via teleconference). Please contact the Parliamentary Committees Office at 250-356-2933 (toll-free in BC at 1-877-428-8337) to inquire. You can also make a written, audio or video submission through the Committee’s consultation portal. The Guiding Questions may assist you in preparing for your presentation or submission. The consultation closes on Friday, June 7, 2019 at 5:00 p.m.
