Welcome
The all-party Special Committee to Review the
Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (RSBC 1996, chapter 165) was appointed on May 27, 2015 to undertake a comprehensive review of the Act. Adopted in 1992, the Act provides British Columbians with a statutory right of access to records in the custody or control of public bodies, subject to certain exceptions, governs how public bodies collect, use, and disclose personal information, and requires public bodies to protect the personal information that they have in their custody or control. The statute requires that a special committee of the Legislative Assembly review the provisions of the Act every six years.
