The Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services holds annual province-wide public consultations on the next provincial budget. Pursuant to the Budget Transparency and Accountability Act [SBC 2000] Chapter 23 the consultation period opens by September 15, with the release of the Budget 2017 Consultation Paper by the Minister of Finance. British Columbians can participate by presenting at a public hearing, making a written, audio or video submission, or by completing an online survey.
Registration to present at a public hearing will open on September 6, 2016. More information regarding the registration process for these meetings will be made available here in coming weeks. The locations and dates for the public hearings are available in Committee Meetings.
The Committee is also empowered to consider and to make recommendations on the annual reports, rolling three-year service plans, and budgets of B.C.'s eight statutory officers.
