The Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services has now concluded its annual province-wide public consultations on the next provincial budget. Pursuant to the Budget Transparency and Accountability Act [SBC 2000] Chapter 23 the consultation period opened on Sept. 15 with the release of the Budget 2017 Consultation Paper by the Minister of Finance. British Columbians were invited to participate by presenting at a public hearing, making a submission, or by completing an online survey before the Oct. 14, 2016 deadline for public input. Committee Members want to thank all those who participated.
The Committee will present their report to the Legislative Assembly on or before Nov. 15, 2016.
The Committee is also empowered to consider and to make recommendations on the annual reports, rolling three-year service plans, and budgets of B.C.'s eight statutory officers.
