Each fall, the Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services holds province-wide public consultations on the next provincial budget pursuant to Section 2 of the Budget Transparency and Accountability Act. The Committee released its report on November 15, 2017, including 119 unanimous recommendations focusing on 12 themes such as health care, social services, education, housing, fiscal policy, environment, and transportation and transit. The Committee is also empowered to consider and to make recommendations on the annual reports, rolling three-year service plans, and budgets of B.C.'s eight statutory officers.
