On February 18, 2020 the Legislative Assembly agreed that a Special Committee be appointed to review the
Personal Information Protection Act [SBC 2003, c. 63] in accordance with
section 59 of that Act.
The Act governs how private sector organizations can collect, use, and disclose personal information. It also requires organizations to protect and secure personal information against unauthorized use or disclosure, and grants individuals the right to access their own personal information. Section 59 of the Act requires a Special Committee to review the Act every six years.
As part of its review, the Special Committee to Review the
Personal Information Protection Act invites British Columbians to provide input on how the Act is working. Interested individuals or organizations can make a written, audio or video submission through the Special Committee's
consultation portal before

The Special Committee will consider all input and make recommendations to the Legislative Assembly in a report to be released by February 2021.
