Welcome
The Select Standing Committee on Children and Youth is one of 10 permanent committees of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia. The Committee works to foster greater awareness and understanding among legislators and the public of the B.C. child and youth-serving system. The Committee also provides a public forum for discussion of reports by the Representative for Children and Youth and is required to undertake a review of the Representative for Children and Youth Act at least once every five years.
The Committee is currently seeking input for its review of the Act, including how it is working or may be improved and whether the functions of the Representative described in section 6 of the Act are sufficient.
Submissions will be accepted until 3:00 pm (Pacific) on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 through the Committee's consultation portal. The Committee will review the submissions received with a view to inviting those who made submissions to make presentations in the fall.
The Committee released its Annual Report 2021-22 on May 12, 2022.
Further information on the role, functions and work of the Committee is included in its Terms of Reference.
