School Travel Program
The Legislative Assembly is pleased to offer a travel grant for B.C. school groups in grades 4 - 12 from outside of the Greater Victoria area to help facilitate a visit to the Parliament Buildings.
This program is open to B.C. public schools, independent schools (with a group 1 or 2 classification), schools from the Conseil scolaire francophone de la Colombie-Britannique, and schools operated by a First Nation.

Please see below or read the Information Sheet for eligibility criteria, program requirements, and funding amounts.
Program Requirements
To receive the School Travel Grant, you must complete both requirements:
-
A guided tour of the B.C. Parliament Buildings delivered by staff of the Parliamentary Education Office.
-
A 30 minute Virtual Classroom Session prior to your visit.
Application Deadline
Applications for the 2026/2027 school year are now being accepted. The deadline to apply is March 31, 2027.
How to Apply
Step 1. Book a guided tour of the Parliament Buildings.
-
The grant application is included as part of the online tour booking form.
-
School groups travelling with more than 40 people will need to submit more than one request.
Step 2. Book a Virtual Classroom session for a date prior to your visit.
-
Select 'Virtual Classroom for the School Travel Program' as the focus of the session.
Step 3. Wait for notification that your grant has been approved.
-
Grant applications will be reviewed on a bi-weekly basis, so you can expect to receive your grant notification within approximately 10 business days.
Grant Payment
Payment of the grant will happen after both the guided tour and the Virtual Classroom session have been completed.
The amount of the grant will be based on the total number of people who are present for the guided tour (up to the maximum amount that you were approved to receive). Grant funding is per person, so if you travel with fewer people than originally planned, you will receive less money.
Payment is issued directly to the school and cannot be issued to individuals.
-
Please read the Information Sheet for eligibility criteria, program requirements, and funding amounts.
For more information, please email tours@leg.bc.ca.
Funding
The amount of funding per person is based on school district boundaries.
Funding is provided for a maximum of 40 people. Larger groups need to submit more than one tour booking request and grant application.
Funding is provided for up to two accompanying adults, regardless of how many adults are travelling with the group.
Independent, First Nation, and SD93 schools are assigned to the region where their school is located.
Online learning schools may be asked to provide information to show where the students in the group are travelling from.
