Visitors are welcome to observe proceedings throughout the day from the public galleries when the Legislative Assembly is sitting, subject to space availability. The public galleries open 30 minutes before the beginning of each sitting, and seats are assigned on a first come, first served basis.
Please check the Parliamentary Calendar to see if the Legislative Assembly will be sitting on the day of your visit.
The Public Gallery will be open on the following days to observe legislative sittings when the House is in session (exact timings subject to change):
Monday | 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon 1:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. |
Tuesday | 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon 1:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. |
Wednesday | 1:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. |
Thursday | 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. |
The entrance to the Public Galleries is located on the third floor of the Parliament Buildings.
Visitors must pass through a security scanning station before entering the Public Galleries. Bags, backpacks, cameras, notepads, cell phones and all other electronic devices are not permitted and must be checked at the security station before entering.

Question Period
Question Period is held each day that the Legislative Assembly is sitting. As it is the most popular time of day to observe proceedings, visitors are encouraged to arrive early in order to secure a seat.
Question Period lasts 30 minutes and takes place at the following times:
- Monday and Wednesday, shortly after the start of the afternoon sitting at 1:30 p.m.
- Tuesday and Thursday, shortly after the start of the morning sitting at 10:00 a.m.
Hansard Services
You can also observe debates of the Legislative Assembly from the comfort of your classroom, office or home. Hansard TV broadcasts proceedings from start to finish, complete with closed-captioning for the hearing-impaired. Check your local TV listings for the channel number and broadcast times in your area. You can also access live and archived webcasts on the Legislative Assembly’s Internet site.
Please Note: No backpacks, electronic devices or writing materials are permitted in the Public Galleries.
